La Vie en Virginie

Saw The Glass Menagerie at Culbreth tonight. It was interesting (and the costumes were lovely, Sara!), although I can't say much more without spoiling the ending. Not a bad way to spend the evening, all things considered. It is now Fall Break at UVa, which means that everyone except me has gone home until Monday or Tuesday. That's okay, though. More time to, uh, do work. Like my French composition. Side note: Never watch the film Harry un ami qui vous veut du bien voluntarily. So not worth your time.

Mostly, though, I'll be playing The Sims 2 and watching movies on Netflix. Heh.

I Love Constitutional Theory Forever!

I have a Constitutional Interpretation midterm tomorrow, so I'll keep this brief.

1. The more I read about Thurgood Marshall, the more I admire him.
2. Gilmore Girls makes me happy (and hungry).
3. Antonin Scalia is a hypocrite. And a conservative. Eww.
4. I won a (small) scholarship today! Yay!
5. I really wish I could go home for Reading Days.
6. I miss Jackie, Meagan, and Jessi.
7. It was really hard to not eat meat tonight. It was not hard to not eat meat yesterday at lunch, with some absolutely delicious mushroom-vegetable pasta on the menu.
8. I want to sleep for a day and a half. Then wake up, roll over, and sleep some more.

Okay, back to Storm Center and Constitutional law. The funny thing is, I love this class, but I don't want to take a test tomorrow. Ack.

It's Opposite Day

Or at least the complete opposite of yesterday. I need a hug or seven. Please be better in the morning, world.

Contentment

There are a lot of days where I'm worn out or unhappy or dissatisfied with life. Today was not one of them. I loved every second of today, including Sense and Sensibility with my Jane Austen ladies, worship at Wesley, talking with my mom and with my brothers, and going to the Castle twice in two hours, once to break a ten, and again to keep Sara company. I have a midterm to worry about and a ton of reading to get done, but right now I'm very nearly perfectly happy.

Thank you, God, for beautiful days.

A Second-Year Saturday

I don't like football. I never have. I don't know the rules, and in any case watching a bunch of guys jump all over one another chasing after a ball is not my idea of a fun afternoon. (Sorry, Jackie!) Last year, UVa's team was pretty horrendous; I went to the first game of the season, which we quite embarrassingly lost to William and Mary, got discouraged, and haven't gone back yet.

Today was a home football game. I walked to the farthest dining hall so I could get my exercise for the day, and was once again reminded why I don't go to games. Too many drunk people. Too many people!

Anyway, enough griping about football. It was a beautiful day out. I did some reading for Constitutional Interpretation and ended up wanting to say very rude things to Justice Scalia, so I put the book down for a while. I got all my laundry done (finally), although I still have to fold most of it (grumblegrumblegrumble). I had some Thai food with friends for dinner, which was fun, although admittedly I'm not a huge fan of Thai (I do like it slightly more than football). Then I came back to my dorm and watched Gilmore Girls for two hours. Bliss!

I just have this to say: PSATs don't work that way, show!

If you got through this incredibly inane rambling, I commend you. Hopefully I'll be more in the writing zone tomorrow. Bonne nuit!

Entertainment 2010: September 1 - September 30

Good lord, how did I only manage to post twice in September? Let's see if I can do better than that this month.

Entertainment 2010: September Update

Books: New Reads
None. I AM A FAILURE.

Books: Rereads
NONE. I FAIL AGAIN.

Movies: First Viewings
Alice in Wonderland (the 2010 Tim Burton one)
Chicago (the whole thing. I'd seen the first few minutes two years ago)

Movies: Repeat Viewings
Mulan
Aladdin
Toy Story 3
Alice in Wonderland (the 1951 Disney one)
Pride and Prejudice (1995 miniseries)
Emma (1996 film)
Amelie

Will try to post tomorrow. Maybe this can be my writing project for this month! I'm also going to try to do NaNoWriMo in November, which means I should start planning now.
I will see Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart in person in four weeks. I will be 20 in exactly one month.

I think I might spontaneously combust with excitement.
