Today, while Skyping Richie, my little brother (who is now a freshman at UChicago) (well, technically he's a lot taller than me, but I'm still older (and wiser)):
Richie: I'm planning on going to Japan in my junior year ... oh, I guess my third year, if you want to be crazy.
Me: UVa isn't crazy! We're sophisticated.
Richie: Crazy.
Me: The idea is that you're never finished with your education, so you can't really call yourself a senior-
Richie: Crazy.
Me: It's like Hogwarts!
Richie (talking over me): Crazy!
Me: Did you wish Mom a happy birthday?
Richie (looks at me with an endearing mix of sheepishness and panic, then picks up his cell phone): Bye, Aida!
He then proceeded to hang up the Skype call before I could say another word. Oh, brother!
