Finally
It's the end of another week here at UVa. I only have one class on Fridays, so I can still sleep in late if I want to, thank goodness. This weekend should be nice, as the Farmer's Market has reopened and there are True Grit and the stage performance of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog to see. As of yet, no luck on the job front, but I have many more applications to fill out in the meantime. Only five more weeks until the end of the semester. I'm not sure exactly how I feel about that.

Exhausted
I have no energy whatsoever today. I think this is a sign that I should go to bed early and be well rested for my French test tomorrow.
Blah. Why am I feeling so lethargic? I can be pretty lazy sometimes, but I don't like it. I feel like the most productive thing I do is actually get out of bed and put some clothes on sometimes. It's like those days at home when I never leave the house; I feel like I haven't accomplished anything at all, and I really hate that feeling. Productivity makes me feel fulfilled.
Okay, time to look over some French verb tenses and then hit the hay. Hopefully I'll have a better, more productive day tomorrow.

This is What I Get for Having Guilty Pleasures
Make It or Break It was godawful this week. I realize it's not the most highbrow or sophisticated show on television, but I usually do expect a bit of silly enjoyment out of it. No such luck for last night's episode, though. Payson is my favorite character, and fortunately she's still sensible and awesome (and she doesn't stand on the uneven bars, thank you, because it bothers me so much when this show allows the girls to do that. I don't know a whole lot about gymnastics, but I've never seen Shawn Johnson or Nastia Liukin climb up on top of the low bar to get to the high one), but nearly everyone else is driving me nuts. Lauren is an entitled brat (no 16/17 year old should get away with talking to her father the way she does), Kaylie is the epitome of meh, and Emily makes me want to throw something. Trust me, Emily, if I can go through all of high school and college (thus far) without a boyfriend, you can too. And sex is not something you "give" someone as a reward. No. It's a personal choice you have to be ready to make, and you have to do it for you, not just because you feel obligated to the other person. Since Chelsea Hobbs is pregnant, Emily will probably end up that way, too, and I can't really feel sorry for her. I don't wish unwanted pregnancy on anyone, of course, but since Emily is a fictional character, I am perfectly fine with saying that she's getting what she deserves.
By the way, if all the characters get what they deserve, Lauren will get booted off the team for being a psychopath, and Payson will win all-around gold at the Olympics. Only way justice will be served.
Okay, I am so done talking about contrived TV shows. On to more interesting things.
There was finally a good thunderstorm last night. Unfortunately, it started around 3 in the morning, when I was asleep, and it was so loud I was actually scared for a few minutes (no, I'm not five anymore, just irrational when I'm tired). Apparently there was a lightning strike right next to the quad, which explains that insanely loud crack of thunder I heard around 3:20 or so. It was kind of cool to listen to the storm, though. And the weather's supposed to get nice again later this week, yay!

Sundays are for Skyping
Today after I got back from Wesley informal worship, I Skyped my family for about two hours. Now, usually we Skype for an hour or less, but as I've mostly called using my cell phone this semester, I figured we were due for some face-to-face communication (of sorts). Best part of the call? I showed Josh the "Friday" music video, followed by Stephen Colbert's rendition of it. Watching his reaction was almost funnier than hearing the song for the first time (although nothing can beat that days of the week segment). Anyway, my job here is done.
Also, I watched Tangled for the 6th time since December last night. It was also the 2nd time I'd seen it this week. I swear, that movie is laced with crack or something. Good lord.

In Which Aida Proves, Beyond the Shadow of a Doubt, That She is a Huge Nerd
I have always had a tendency to become oddly obsessed with various works of fiction. I have been a huge (understatement of the century) Harry Potter fan since November of 2000, when I was ten years old, and anyone who has seen my dorm room or, you know, spoken to me for five minutes can attest that my love for Harry has not waned in the slightest. At age twelve I fell for Star Wars when I saw the Original Trilogy for the first time, and I went through I phase where I wanted to watch the movies at every sleepover Meagan and I had (and I believe I must have driven her crazy - sorry, Meg!) and I checked out every Star Wars novel the public library had. I have read every Princess Diaries book, own the entire Anne of Green Gables series and both movies (I refuse to acknowledge the existence of Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story), and collected all seven seasons of The West Wing over the various birthdays and Christmases during high school. Much like Marianne Dashwood, I can never love in halves.
This remains true even in my college years. Only last spring I discovered Avatar: the Last Airbender, which I have now watched from beginning to end nearly twice over and insist that all my similarly nerdy friends at least try a few episodes. I love all Pixar movies (well, maybe not Cars, but everything else I'm pretty darned attached to), and am incredibly excited for Brave, which will combine many of my favorite things (fairy tales, British mythology, strong female protagonists, and adventure stories set in the olden days) into what I am sure will be an excellent film (and which is, unfortunately, more than a year away from release). I fell rather inexplicably hard for Tangled, partially, I suspect, because I expected very little from it, based on those godawful trailers I was subjected to multiple times during the summer. I have been variously obsessed with The Office, Kim Possible, Full House, Make It or Break It (shut up), Jon & Kate Plus 8 (SHUT UP), the Vlogbrothers videos (DFTBA!), Gilmore Girls, and the 2008 presidential election (incidentally, I have been an Obama supporter since 2006, and I'm still pretty happy with him. And no, he's not going to get beaten next year because the Republican field is a joke. Called it).
I only say this now because I watched the entirety of the first season of Veronica Mars (22 one-hour episodes) between Sunday and Thursday and can now list all of the 100 most popular girls' names in the last 100 years (Sporcle has ruined my life). There is clearly something wrong with me, and yet I feel so happy. Go figure.

What's This? A Post?
A short one, anyway. Since I've spent most of the past week writing papers and devouring the first season of Veronica Mars, I figured I might as well get my butt in gear long enough to update my blog. Below you will find some quick-fire tidbits of info about my life, quite appropriately in bullet point form. Voila:
- It snowed on Sunday, after having been almost 80 degrees the weekend before. Weather, question: Seriously? And if I may have a follow up, seriously?
- Prayer Partner Sarah and I watched Flipped this afternoon. I've been wanting to see it since August, and yeah, the acting wasn't fabulous, but from what I can remember of the book, it was a great adaptation. Good job, Rob Reiner!
- My African-American Political Thought class is one of the best I've taken at UVa. We talked about Hurricane Katrina on Thursday, and I was actually quite sorry when class ended, because the discussion was so interesting!
- Richie got into UVa and William & Mary! He's been in at UChicago since December, and it looks like he's going to go there, but I'm so proud of him for getting accepted at two of the best public schools in the country. Kid didn't turn out too bad (I guess that time I pushed him off the bunk bed when he was six didn't scar him for life after all).
- Still waiting to find out where I'm working this summer. Why am I never the one with the fantastic internship or the job in New York City with stipends and housing?
- Jackie got the care package I sent her! I finally used some of my A:tLA stickers on the CD case, and she was truly appreciative. :)
- I had gone all my life without knowing that there's a European comic book series/cartoon about a cowboy named Lucky Luke. Then my French teacher was horrified that none of us had heard of it, so she made us watch it. Only when she says "Lucky Luke," it sounds like "Lukey Luke," which makes me think of "Marky Mark," which is so not the way to keep a straight face in French class.
- Springtime in Virginia is gorgeous. It's my favorite season here, bar none. There are some amazing flowers popping up by the staircase near Maury Hall, and I love the walk to work and back because there are so many wildflowers on Carr's Hill.
Okay, time to go to bed early for once. The end of the semester really takes its toll on you!
